Pleasure treats in DIY mode!

Tired of those regular salon visits? Check out 5 things to DIY in this blog.

For some, it is a monthly visit and for some a fortnightly one. But for a lot of women, the lead up to this visit and the visit itself is quite painful. Also, fitting in salon time in a busy schedule is challenging; and let’s not forget how much lighter each salon visit makes the purse. So to help all of us who do not look forward to a regular salon visit, here’s a list of at least some procedures you can take off your list.

A Strawberry Face Scrub for an Immediate Fresh Look

Daily life has a way of catching up with us and showing on our skin. The dark circles, the generally sallow complexion, the dryness, or a sudden breakout of acne are all indicators of the small stresses we endure every day. This strawberry scrub will help you instantly energize your skin, take care of its dryness, prevent breakouts, and give you a fresh look that even you won’t be able to stop admiring in the mirror.

Simply mash three medium-sized strawberries in a bowl to a paste-like consistency and add a tablespoon of honey to the mash. Mix thoroughly and apply on your face in a circular motion, using it as a mild scrub for your skin. Keep for five minutes and rinse. Do this once a week for glowing skin!

A Yogurt-Honey Hair Mask for Shining Hair

Instead of deep conditioning at the salon, simply use this delicious (yes, you can eat it too) hair mask that gives it an instant shine, but more so if you use it twice a week. The fats in yoghurt work like oil without the stickiness and honey softens the hair, making it smooth.

To make the mask, mix two tablespoons of yoghurt with one tablespoon of honey. For more, simply double the amount in the same ratio. Pamper yourself with a little massage of this mix to ensure that the scalp is thoroughly covered and coat the hair from root to tip. Wash it off with a mild shampoo after 20 minutes.

A Vinegar-Honey Foot Soak for a DIY Pedicure

Our feet are so neglected that they deserve an award for still keeping us standing and getting us places all day. Because the soles of our feet lack the sebaceous glands found on the rest of our body, they tend to become dry quickly. So here’s a simple pedicure you can do for yourself with some natural ingredients.

Start by keeping a tub of hot water by your side. Add to it the juice of a lemon (this helps lighten the skin on the feet). Massage your feet and nails with some coconut or almond oil. Then soak your feet in the hot water for a few minutes. Rub your feet with a pumice stone to remove dead skin and use a nail cleaner to clean out your nails. Once done, rinse your feet and massage them with oil for a few minutes. Wipe them and they will feel fresh and thank you.

A Coffee Scrub for a Fresh Glow

Spot treatments are great but even our entire bodies need some tender loving care. As mentioned earlier, skin begins to look sallow when not cared for regularly. Use this all-natural coffee scrub to brighten your skin.

Ensure your body is thoroughly moist in the shower, and then use leftover coffee grounds to scrub your skin. The gentle massage will improve circulation and the coffee grounds scrub off the dead cells revealing a fresh layer of skin. Rinse off and moisturize thoroughly to prevent dryness, and say hello to brighter skin.

A Natural Tan Remover

Salons offer “anti-tan” treatments at hefty prices. But it is easy to get rid of a tan with ingredients found in your kitchen. All you need is two tablespoons of besan (chickpea flour), two tablespoons of milk, one tablespoon of rose water, and a pinch of turmeric. This is a small amount, but if you require more, just double the amounts. Apply it on the tanned area and leave it on for about 20 minutes. Rinse off the mixture, and you’ll look and feel lighter instantly. Applied about twice a week, this remover can give you a perpetual natural, fresh glow.

A little self-care can go a long way in saving yourself all those salon trips. Try these remedies and let us know how they work!
